  5. Cubs acquire Eddie Butler

TOP 3 TEAMS OF THE MONTH:

Baltimore Orioles: The Orioles signed Johnny Giavotella, Chris Johnson, and Michael Bourn to minor league deals. Baltimore also acquired Gabriel Ynoa Vidal Nuno in trades. These moves may not seem that important or likely to have a big impact on the Orioles’ postseason chances, but they have the potential to be real contributors to the Orioles in 2017

Kansas City Royals: The Royals had to face the unfortunate passing of ace Yordano Ventura this year. Ventura’s death left a gaping hole in the rotation which they filled by signing a pair of Chicago Cubs, Jason Hammel and Travis Wood. Kansas City also made a few other minor moves that can help out their pitching in Seth Maness and Peter Moylan while also inking Brayan Peña.

Washington Nationals: The Nationals signed a pair of established veterans to major league deals in February in Adam Lind and Matt Wieters. They also inked Jeremy Guthrie to a minor league deal. With Wieters in the mix along with fellow offseason acquiree Derek Norris and Pedro Severino, don’t be surprised if the Nationals make a move involving Norris or Severino in March, possibly with the White Sox in exchange for David Robertson as has been rumored.
